My Fucking Generation

Equity is the equality of similarly situated people. It is possibly the greatest social justice problem facing any society. At some point society draws the line on what is and what is not a basic right. They decide what you deserve simply because you exist. It then must be decided what a standard of living is, and whether or not you meet that standard. After that it is decided what, if not meeting that standard, you will be provided with from the state ( in essence how egalitarian the state decides itself to be) to meet that living standard and God-given-state-provided rights.

This collection of decisions is a simple derivation of what is a thought process on how much a society will redistribute its wealth. Will we allow people to make billions while others live in refrigerator boxes? Or will we try and make everyone equal, regardless of God given talent and work ethic? Or will we allow the rich to have the same privileges as those in their socioeconomic standing and set aside a different set for the poor and the middle class?

At any rate Rock and Roll is dead. The Who and every hanger-on that plays the superbowl or anywhere else confirms it constantly. Roger Daltry sang like a retirement home outing. I saw Bob Dylan 3 years ago and was so disenchanted. People need to realize this and move on. They were great, but we need to worry about things that are great. To be fair Tom Petty and The Boss can still hold their own. Hopefully they realize when it's time to hang up the saddle.
